Source and frame of reference of Raphael Brunk’s photographic work Captures are currently heavily used pc games. Even so they withdraw classical photography immanent laws regarding sharpness, background, horizon, and focus, they are based on the images of a virtually emulated photo apparatus in their native state. Through various manipulative interventions by the artist as well as the cultivation of software-based algorithms, the partly painterly, partly strictly techno-like appearance tries to fathom a neo-photographic state.
